Project YUWA - Youth for Unity and Wellness Awareness for Ethnic Minorities
Service Overview
The term "YUWA" in some South Asian languages is pronounced as (yuvā) and it means "Youth".
Project YUWA (Youth for Unity and Wellness Awareness) is a mental health initiative for ethnically diverse youth. We have been supported by the Mental Health Initiative Funding Scheme, Health Bureau, since April 2022.
Project YUWA provides much-needed counselling support, raises awareness among ethnically diverse communities through community outreach and education, and engages youth in disseminating mental health messages to their own communities through our mental health leadership training programme.
Service Objective
- To reach out and identify youth in need of mental health support and provide them with mental health services or make an appropriate referral.
- To develop and empower youth as mental health leaders in promoting mental health in their own communities and disseminate the help-seeking message.
- To engage the mental health leaders in reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Service Users
- Ethnically diverse youth between the ages of 12-35, irrespective of their resident status in Hong Kong
- Those who want to understand and improve their own mental health
- Schools, NGOs, and community stakeholders working with ethnically diverse communities

Service Application
The applicant can approach us directly or through a referral made by other organisations/institutions.
Service Withdrawal
Service can be terminated based on the worker’s professional judgment and mutual agreement made with the service users. Service users may terminate service voluntarily at any juncture of the service process.
