Chun Shek Halfway House

Chun Shek Halfway House was officially operated in 1986, providing 54 places for male person in recovery (PIR) with a transitional period of residential care service. We provide professional service to PIRs through a team composed of registered social worker, registered psychiatric nurse, hostel staff and supporting staff. 

Mission

To provide transitional residential rehabilitation service to PIRs, in order to strengthen their self-care and social adjustment skills, thus re-integrated back into the society and develop their recovery lives.

Objective

 

Our halfway house practiced the Recovery Model, which encouraged PIRs to develop their strengths and potential, as well as to give a sense of capability and bring hope to enrich their life. Besides, we are devoted to ensure PIRs in obtaining community resources for their recovery and well-being by establishing and maintaining supportive community relationship in the society.

Service Targets

  1. Male with ex-mentally illness (aged 15 and above)
  2. Assessed by psychiatry for mentally stable and fit for group living
  3. Physically healthy, capable of self-care and free from infectious disease
  4. Motivated for open employment and vocational ability

  • Accommodation and meals
  • Medical follow up and training of drug compliance
  • Individual and group counseling
  • Vocational counseling and referral
  • Interest class and recovery activities
  • Social skills training
  • Independent living skills training and community integration activities

Fee

According to fee policy of the Social Welfare Department, currently $1,220 per month

Service Hour

24 hours per day

Application and Withdrawal

Referrals can be made by social workers of medical social services units, integrated family services centers, special schools or rehabilitation service units using the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services (CRSRehab.) All applications will be carefully reviewed by the halfway house committee.

 

The service is provided on a voluntary basis. Service users could apply for termination of service. On the other hand, social workers could also terminate the service upon their professional judgment and mutual agreement made with the service users.
