“We’re Nothing At All” SideBySide Charity Movie Screening and Post-Screening Sharing

2026.6.6

SideBySide is presenting the Charity Movie Screening of We’re Nothing At All to raise funds for our diverse services, including Crime Prevention Education, Health Education Services and Peer Support Service.

The film We’re Nothing At All starkly exposes the intertwined relationship between mental health crises, social exclusion and criminal behaviour, leaving behind a profound and haunting question. While SideBySide has long been committed to promoting social inclusion, guided by our purpose: Everyone Deserves to Belong. Our services encompass providing psychological counselling, peer support, health education and community integration assistance to individuals in mental health recovery, those who have been through the justice system, persons with substance use issues, and other marginalised groups such as ethnic diversities — walking alongside them as they emerge from isolation and rebuild meaningful lives.

Through this charity movie screening, we invite you to experience a deeply moving story with the audience, followed by an in-depth post-screening dialogue featuring the film crew and legal experts. Together, we will explore the critical social issues depicted on screen. Through heartfelt exchange and public education, we aim to awaken greater understanding and empathy for marginalised communities, encourage the public to face emotional distress head-on and embrace diversity, and inspire concrete action in support of SideBySide’s services — so that everyone truly deserves to belong, and together we can prevent similar tragedies from recurring and build a more inclusive, safer society.

Synopsis

On Valentine’s Day, February 14, a double-decker bus exploded in a busy downtown area, resulting in multiple casualties. Given the severity of the case, the police force re-hired Sir Lung (played by Patrick Tam), a former forensic expert who had been off the force for six years, to assist with the investigation. Among the victims of the explosion, two bodies remained unclaimed by their families: Fai (played by Anson Kong), who came from a troubled home, and Ike (played by ANSONBEAN), who had been kicked out by his father. When police searched Fai’s residence, they found the following words written on the door of his subdivided flat: “When an avalanche strikes, not a single snowflake is innocent.”
