Mercury III Intensive Support and Preventive Programme for AIDS and Blood-borne Disease

Service Objective

The spirit of Mercury III is to deliver preventive education with initiative care to the target populations.

Service Users

  • Prisoners
  • Drug abusers (including non-Chinese)
  • Sex industry workers and their clients
  • Men who have sex with men
  • Non-Chinese clients 

Scope of Service

Project PATHS - Preventive Education among Inmates & Supports to HIV+ Service: 

  • HIV/AIDS and Blood-borne diseases preventive education services for the inmates under custody of Correctional Service Department and Immigration Department
  • Health talks, intensive groups and mass educational programmes
  • Case follow-up and counselling for HIV+ clients

Project COMPASS - Cease Opioid, Methadone & Psychotropic substance Abuse Social Strategies:

  • Outreach service in methadone clinics
  • Mutual support groups for Hepatitis C infected person
  • The "No Reused Needles" programme – an outreach service aiming at promoting public hygiene
  • Health education talks and Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) for drug addiction treatment organisations and hostel units in our agency
  • Recruitment and training for peer supporters in HIV/AIDS and Blood-borne diseases preventive education for drug abusers

 

 

 

Project Care Mobile Net (CMN) - Health Education for the Sex Workers and Clients:

  • Providing HIV/AIDS and Blood-borne diseases prevention education to female sex workers and their male clients (Local and Ethnic Diversity Groups) through online outreach, community outreach, and groups
  • Distributing free condoms, lubricants and self-test kits to service targets
  • Providing groups, health talks in schools and community activities to promote related information of HIV/AIDS and Blood-borne diseases
  • Providing voluntary counseling and rapid test of HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C test in our center and on-site

 

 

 

Project Member Special Mission (MSM) - Health Education for Men who have Sex with Men:

  • HIV/AIDS and Blood-borne diseases preventive education for men who have sex with men through online outreach, community outreach, case and group intervention
  • Distribution of free condoms, lubricants and self-test kits
  • Voluntary Counselling & Testing (VCT) and mobile VCT (including HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C)
  • Participation and collaboration in community activities to provide health education for public

 

 Voluntary Counseling and Testing Service (VCT):

  • Free, confidential and anonymous Voluntary Counseling and Testing service on HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C by trained social workers
  • Pre and post-test counseling
  • Referral and escort service

 

Service Fee

Free of Charge

Service Hours

Mondays to Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays Closed

Service Application

Applicant may submit the application directly or through referral made by other organizations/institutions.

Service Withdrawal

Service can be terminated upon worker's professional judgment and mutual agreement made with the service users. Service users may terminate service voluntarily at any juncture of the service process.
